Programme Objectives
- Mechanical Engineering is one of the core branches of
Engineering. It is also one of the oldest and broadest
engineering disciplines.
- It is an important stream of engineering as the final
actuation elements continue to be mechanical in every
industry, despite miniaturization and replacement of
mechanisms by electronics.
- The discipline provides in-depth understanding of core
concepts including mechanics , kinematics ,
thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, energy and
manufacturing.
- It provides training to students in mechanics; fluid
dynamics; kinematics and dynamics of the systems; heat
transfer; dynamics and control; robotics and advanced manufacturing techniques; machine design and design
optimization; automation; computer graphics and
material sciences.
Career Prospects
- The diversity in areas in which students gain
knowledge in this stream, brings large employment
potential for them.
- Mechanical engineers are required not only in hard
core mechanical industries, but also in chemical, process
fertilizers, and software industries
- They play a very important role in government sectors
like Ordinance factories, Indian Railways, Army, Navy, Air
Force, Marine, Power Plants, Aerospace, etc.

adopted latest teaching learning processes like e-
learning, power point presentations, seminars,
industrial visits, industry based projects etc. The department has modern classrooms that use LCD and
Overhead Projectors, White Boards etc for a
comfortable and effective learning experience. It has
well-equipped laboratories like CAD/CAE Lab, Metallurgy Lab, Machine Shop, Workshop, Fluid
Mechanics Lab/Fluid Machinery Lab, Basic Mechanical
Engineering Lab, Drawing Halls, Theory of Machines
Lab, Metrology & Quality Control Lab., I. C. Engines &
Automobile Engineering Lab, Refrigeration & Air
Conditioning Lab, Heat Transfer Lab, Mechanical
Measurements Lab and Simulation and Modeling lab
with WITNESS for demonstration and hands on
experience for the students.
Faculty
The department has well qualified faculty members.
There are two faculty members with M. Tech from IITs,
VJTI, Mumbai, and one faculty with M.Tech from VNIT.
One faculty has a Ph.D. from IIT, Madras.
The faculty has an average teaching experience of
12 years. They have specializations in diverse areas of
Mechanical Engineering such mechanical systems
