Ramdeobaba Engg College inks MOU with North American Universities


In line with the recent trends of global partnership in education sector, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management (RCOEM), a leading engineering institute of central India (formerly RKNEC) has initiated interaction with Premier universities of North America. A delegation of RCOEM comprising of Dr. V.S. Deshpande, Principal and Dr. Rajesh S. Pande, vice Principal visited and interacted with Six US Universities namely University of Massachusetts Lowell, Northern Illinois University, Indiana University, University at Buffalo the state university of New York, Purdue university and University of Hartford. During the visit RCOEM has inked Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with University of Massachusetts Lowell, Northern Illinois University and University of Hartford.

The cooperation with North American universities primarily aims to foster advancement in teaching, research and academic collaboration and to create avenues for enhancing student and faculty experience. The MOU will govern general framework for academic exchanges. The interaction with US universities will provide global exposure to RCOEM students. Several streams from Engineering and Technology, business management were discussed for academic cooperation and a feasible implementation plan will be developed soon. The American universities focus on high quality, innovative, Industry oriented educational pattern. One of the objectives of interaction is to enhance employability with development of curriculum, practical approach, soft skill development and creativity. The development of short term programs, projects of mutual benefit, distance learning programs, sharing of best practices, innovative or creative concepts, student and faculty exchange will be implemented as per mutual consent. The development of teaching and research methodology, continued education programs are also featured in understanding.

The MOU with Northern Illinois University, a state university of Illinois was signed by Mr. Raymond W. Alden III, Executive Vice President and Provost in the presence of Ms. Deborah L. Pierce, associate provost and Prof. P. Vohra, Dean, College of Engineering and Engineering Technology. The MOU with University of Massachusetts Lowell, a state university of Massachusetts was signed by Donald E. Pierson, Vice provost in the presence of Julie Chen, Vice provost for research and Dr. K. Prasad. The MOU with University of Hartford was signed by Ms. Sharon Vasquez, Provost.

Dr. V.S. Deshpande, Principal and Dr. Rajesh S. Pande, Vice Principal have signed MOU on behalf of RCOEM.

Dr Deshpande and Dr Pande also visited Innovative design centre, Birk Nanotechnology centre of Purdue university, Institute of nano science and engineering and technology of NIU. The officials of American Universities also explained the capital planning process, project planning and issues of academic administration.

The delegation interacted with the Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of faculties, Indiana University, Indianapolis, Dr. Uday Sukhatme,   Prof. Venkataramanan Balakrishnan, Head, School of Electrical and computer engineering, Purdue university and Dr. Rakesh Negi, Professor and chair, Department of systems engineering, University of Buffalo, state university of New York. The interaction with these universities and joint effort will be a new beginning and would promote growth in the field of academics and research.

Installation of RCOEM North America (East coast) Alumni chapter at New Jersey, USA


On Thanksgiving Day, Thu. 24th November 2011 Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (formerly SRKNEC) founded and inaugurated North America Alumni East Coast Chapter in New Jersey, USA in gracious presence of Principal Dr.V.S.Deshpande and Vice Principal Dr Rajesh S Pande who were on official USA visit for RCOEM and North America Universities partnerships. Ex-Professors of RCOEM Dr.Sachin Garg and Prof.Shashi Shankar also graced the occasion. Ranjan Ghate took the initiative to found and organize Alumni meet. He is designated as North America Alumni Founder President. Narendra Plaha,  Shailendra Rai, Rakesh Singh, Abhijit Naik, Rakesh Motghare, Prasad Kulkarni, Prashant Vithlani, Shekhar Gupta, Deepak Chandak, Himanshu Gaur, Rohit Wahi also attended the meet as part of North America Alumni Foundation Team.

Alumni meet was also attended by professors and Alumni Team, Mr. Tushar Marghade, President of RCOEM alumni association, Prof. Dhiran, prof Incharge alumni association and senior professors RCOEM, Nagpur using video conference. Prof Diddee, Prof Anish Goel, Prof Vishal Rathi coordinated Video conference facility at RCOEM, Nagpur.

Dr.V.S.Deshpande guided Alumni to organize chapters as East Coast, Central, and West Coast and eventually in major cities for better connectivity with each other, Alma mater and mutual growth. He also shared recent developments at RCOEM and invited everyone to the campus.

Dr. Rajesh S Pande invited everyone to contribute in growth of RCOEM. Dr Pande urged alumni to guide and mentor students using Video Conference. He emphasized on how Alumni can help present students in their development and growth by guiding in projects, trainings, higher studies and career. Prof.Shashi Shankar guided Alumni and encouraged to contribute in growth of alma mater.

It was a great Thanksgiving celebration in presence of Principal, Vice Principal, ex-professors, professiors and Alumni of RCOEM. Everyone shared nostalgic moments, thanked RCOEM for being strong foundation in their careers and their commitment to RCOEM’s growth.
