Activities 2022-2023

Department has organized an International Conference on Recent Developments in Mechanical Engineering” ICRDME-22 during 22-23 Sept 2022. The conference received a huge response over than 100 papers from all over India. VNIT Nagpur, CSIR- NEERI, CSIR-CIMFR, Research for Resurgence Foundation, Tata Technologies and ISA-Hyderabad Section supported the conference as the Knowledge partners while Novasys Greenergy Pvt Ltd, Nagpur supported it as the Platinum Sponsor. One of the major attractions of the conference was the exhibition of Mono Perc Half Cut Bifacial Solar PV module by Novasys Greenergy Nagpur.

Dr. Nitin Labhsetwar from NEERI Nagpur, Mr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Mr. Prasad Joshi and Ms. Vidhya Sahu from Novasys Greenergy have delivered plenary sessions. Senior delegates from Ashok Leyland Bhandara and Sharada Shree Ispat Ltd Butibori have presented various case studies on the live industrial problems.The conference was concluded at the Valedictory function on 24th September 2022, The invited guests, Dr Pranav Sapkal of Lucid Implants and Dr. D. K. Sakhare of CIMFR congratulated the organizing team for the successful conduction of the conference.

RCOEM – TATA CIIIT Center for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training

The visionary leaders of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM) has decided to set the bench mark for excellence in Engineering-Technology education, at par with the world class technologies. Therefore, with an objective to facilitate Innovations & skill development of students, industry professionals, RCOEM has established a state-of-art Center for Invention, Innovation, Incubation & Training (CIIIT). The methodology adopted at CIIIT is, provide the education 4.0 so that the students are prepared for work culture expected by industry 4.0.

The student trained at CIIIT will eventually be absorbed as skilled resources in the industry or would be self-sufficient to create entrepreneurships. Further, RCOEM-TATA CIIIT assures to strengthen the industry-academia partnership, impart the qualitative improvement in technical education, create skilled workforce to cater to current and future industrial landscape of the region.

With modern equipments and the state-of art technologies, RCOEM-TATA CIIIT ensures employability of the trained-students industry specific domain. The technical facility and skill-development training comprises of most of the perquisites that are essentially required for under graduate and post graduate students for employability and placement in multi-national companies.

VORTECHX 4.0

Vortechx is one of the biggest technological events in Central India. This biannual event gives the ideal environment for discovering and studying cutting edge innovations. In the last 3 years, over 4000 students and professionals have visited Vortechx. The 4th edition of Vortechx was organized in harmony with the department of Mechanical Engineering from 13th to 15th September, 2022 at RCOEM campus. In total, 3 workshops, 5 events, a Student Conference and an Open Mic event were organized. Overall, around 130 students participated in engaging and interesting workshops that were delivered by industry experts and almost 300 students showed active participation in various events and competitions that were organized. The student Convener of Vortechx 4.0 was Mr. Vidit Tambi, President, MECHASSO and the faculty coordinators were Dr. Pranjali Deole and Prof. Bhushan Bissa.

Aeromodelling Competition at Sports Complex RCOEM under VORTECHX 3.0

Mechanical Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management organized Aero-modeling competition in association with Aeronautical Society of India under VortechX 3.0, the third edition of the biannual National Student Convention on 23rd February 2020 at Sports Complex, Mohali, Dorli.

RCOEM’s International Conference ICACER-2019 inaugurated

International Conference on Advances & Challenges in Energy Research (ICACER- 2019) organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur has been inaugurated. The conference is organised in association with CSIR-NEERI, Institution of Engineers (India) as knowledge partners.
ICACER-2019 has been inaugurated on 15th March 2019 at Chitnavis Centre, Civil lines, Nagpur at the hands of Chief guest Shri. Prafulla Pathak, Chairman, Solar Energy Society of India (SESI), New Delhi. Dr. Shripal Singh, Scientist & Officer Incharge CIMFR was guest of honor. Shri Chandrakantbhai Thakar, Vice Chairman, RCOEM presided over the function, Shri Govindlal Agarwal, General Secretary, RCOEM, Shri Rajendra Purohit, Secretary, RCOEM, Dr. R. S. Pande, Principal and General Chair, Dr. K.N. Agrawal, Convener and Dr. M. M. Gupta Co-Convener were prominently present.
At the outset ICACER-2019 has been inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp. The founder chairman of RCOEM and Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, his Excellency Shri Banwarilal Purohit expressed his best wishes to the conference through his message, that was read by Dr. R.S. Pande. Principal, RCOEM, Nagpur.
Dr. K. N. Agrawal, Convener, ICACER-19, in his introductory remarks highlighted the various sessions, plenary talks and deliberations to be held during the two days of conference. The conference delegates are from research organizations, academic institutions in India and abroad and industry personnel. A total of 54 research papers will be presented in the two days of conference. All registered and presented papers are likely to be published in online special conference issue of IJMPERD, a Scopus indexed journal.
In his presidential address Shri Chandrakantbhai Thakar spoke about the direct relationship of electricity generation & development of the nation. He urged delegates and researchers to work for society and to use their research work for the benefit of common man.
The knowledge partners & Sponsors R.C. Plasto Tanks & Pipes Pvt. Ltd, Moil Ltd & Manmohan Minerals & Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. Were felicitated by the hands of President of the function Shri Chandrakantbhai Thakar.
The abstract book was released by the hands of all digniteries.
Dr. M.M. Gupta, CO-Convener & HOD Mechanical proposed the formal vote of thanks. The inaugural function was compered by Dr. P.S. Deole & Prof. R. A. Agrawal.
Keynote: In his keynote address Shri. Prafulla Pathak, Chairman, Solar Energy Society of India (SESI), New Delhi, said about advances & research going on in energy sector. He also pointed about cost of generation of power for conventional & unconventional methods of power generation like Solar & Wind energy. He brifed about the progress of unconventional energy generation & utilization after independence. He also highlighted about the e-mobility & large capacity solar power plants.
Plenary Talk 1: Dr. Lalit Kumar Sahoo, Principal Scientist CSIR-CIMFR Nagpur spoke on Energy efficiency Benchmarking. In his talk he highlighted the reduction in losses during energy conversion. He briefed about the energy conservation techniques for various household & commercial applications.
The day was followed by the sessions of industry experts on industrial case studies & technical paper presentation sessions by the participants. Conference Organising Secretary Dr. V.V. Shukla & Dr. S.S. Joshi, along with all the faculty members of Mechanical Department put consistent efforts for the success of the conference.
The day two of the conference would witness the technical paper presentation sessions, poster presentation competition & plenary talks.
On day Three the industrial visit for the participants to the nearby industries is planned.

VORTECHX 2018

VortechX 2018, the biannual technical festival was organized by the Mechanical Engineering department of ShriRamdeobaba College of Engineering and Management from 21st to 23rd February 2018. Dr. K. N Agrawal, H.O.D. Mechanical engineering department was the Convener of the festival, Prof. S. R. Kulkarni and Dr A. M. Khalatkar were the Teacher in-charges and Mr. Akash Singh was the student Convener. More than 750 students took part in the 2 technical workshops and 9 events organized under VortechX from different engineering colleges and polytechnics from and around Vidarbha region. The two workshops were: Automobile familiarization workshop and 2 day – Articulated Robotic Arm Workshop. The 9 events were namely; Temple run, Jugaad, Paper presentation, Project Presentation, Adam vs Madam, Open Mic, Gamer’s Arena, Lensarc and Robolympics.
The festival began with the inaugural event graced by the presence of Mr. Rahul Dixit, Chairman of CII, Nagpur division, and Dr. D. J. Tidke, Advisor of Anand group. With a budget of Rs. 4,50,000 the technical festival Vortechx 2018 was immensely helped, by MOIL, Jaguar-India, T.I.M.E. institute, Gate forum institute, Astral Informatics, and Robostudio in terms of sponsorship. The Robotics workshop was organized by Makxenia Institute and the Automobile workshop was organized by Mr. Vijay Kumar.

Various events held on Engineers' Day

MECHASSO & EDC
Installation Ceremony of MECHASSO (Mechanical Engineering Students Association) and EDC (Entrepreneurship Development Cell) for the year 2017-2018 were recently held in the Mechanical Engineering Department. Distinguished Alumini Mr Lohit Kumar Yadav(IES2017-AIR 1), Mr Saurabh Chitlange(IES2017-AIR 43), Mr Dushyant Shesh (lieutenant-Indian Navy) were the guests and Dr. K.N. Agrawal presided over the function.
Mr Lohit Yadav inspired the young minds by making them aware about Public sector career opportunities and IES. He stressed on the participation of students in organizing various activities and events in student life, as they enrich their life skills and confidence. Through such student platform, student learn and enhance a lot of essential skills like written and oral communication, team work, time management, planning, managing resources and boosts the confidence of the individual to face real life challenges.
Mr Dushyant Shesh, in his speech highlighted the importance communication skills and discipline in student life. He also motivated students to opt for Indian Defense Services to serve the nation. Dr. G.R.Potey, Faculty-in-charge MECHASSO briefed about MECHASSO aims and objectives and outlined the plan of various activities to be undertaken. He also urged the students to actively participate in all activities that will be carried out by MECHASSO throughout the year.
Dr. K.N Agrawal, HOD. Mechanical Engg Department, RCOEM blessed the students with his motivational speech and gave the message that all students had immense hidden potential, which needs to be identified and polished just like Diamonds hidden in the coal mines. He also congratulated all the elected members of all the societies that were installed.
Dr M. M. Gupta advised the students to focus on the basics of engineering. He also motivated the student’s to take entrepreneurship as one of the career options. Mr. Akash Singh, President MECHASSO administered the oath to all student members. The function was attended by a large number of students and faculty members.

VORTECHX’16
