Introduction

COMPUSYS is the official student body of CSE. It helps to bridge the gap between the students. It organizes various events throughout the year. Two major events – Manzar and Polaris. Manzar is the welcome given to III semester students by organizing cultural and personality contests while Polaris is the techno-cultural event. Manzar offers various events like Wolf of the Wall Street, Eminence, Monologue and various other cultural events while Polaris hosts various technical and co-curricular events like treasure hunts, project competitions and workshops. Apart from these Compusys organizes various skill enhancement, social events and sports events too.

GUEST LECTURE ON VEDIC MATHEMATICS

Speaker: Mr. Manmath Deshpande

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a Guest Lecture for the students of 2nd, 3rd & final year students on January 18th, 2020 on the topic “Vedic Mathematics- High-Speed Maths”.

The Resource Person was Mr. Manmath Deshpande – founder of Manmath’s Academy, Nagpur. Mr. Deshpande is an aptitude trainer by profession. Mr. Deshpande has been training students in various parts of aptitude tests like LR, DI, Verbal, etc and specializes in the Mathematics section.

POLARIS2k18 National Level Technical Symposium:

A Three day National level Technical Symposium “POLARIS-2k18” has been organized by the Computer Science & Engineering Department of Shri. Ramdeobaba College of Engg & Management, Nagpur in association with CSI on 24th 27th Jan 2018.The chief guest of the event was Mr. Shashank Garg, Director Infocepts Pvt Ltd. Total 1200 people participated from all over the region. Highlighting Events were Project Competition, Coding Contest, Password cracking competition, Personality contest and two day workshops on “Angular JS” and “Python Learning”.

Joint Installation Program Of Computer Society Of India (CSI) And Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Cell

The department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a one day joint installation program on 11th October 2017. The programme was organized for installation of Computer Society of India (CSI) and Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Cell in the CSE department for the session 2017-18, by the induction of student committee.

CSI provides a platform for learning and networking to the students by conduction of various workshops, seminars, courses, and digital opportunities for development, exchanging knowledge and ideas. The membership of the Society is open to all professionals and students involved in the field of information and communication technology. The installation of CSI in the CSE department marks the beginning of the journey of knowledge for all the CSI student members.

The Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Cell is aimed to channelize the knowledge and the energy of youth towards becoming active partners in the economic development process. It catalyzes and promotes development of business idea by guiding and assisting the prospective entrepreneurs on various aspects such as preparing project reports, obtaining project approvals, loans and facilities from agencies of support system, information on technologies, etc, by organizing various workshops and seminars, throughout the academic session.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by various events like Solo dance competition, Technical poster making, Solo music competition, Technical article writing, Business Quiz, Debate competition and personality contest ‘Celebutante’. The event concluded with the felicitation of the winners of the various competitions and the students who excelled in the field of sports.

POLARIS 2K17 National Level Technical Festival

The inaugural ceremony of Polaris 2k17 took place on 18th of January, 2017 in the Main Auditorium from 9.00am – 12.00 noon. Mr. Arvind Kumar (Dy. Centre Head, TCS) presided as the chief guest for the function. There was also an esteemed presence of Govindlalji Agrawal, General Secretary; Prof. M.B. Chandak, H.O.D. CSE Department; Prof. Devishree Naidu, Prof In-charge of Polaris 2k17; Prof. Ramchand Hablani, Prof In-charge of Polaris 2k17 and Miss Shivani Sisodiya, President, Polaris 2k17. The ceremony was attended by all students of CSE Department and all the workshop participants. Inauguration started with Lightning of the traditional lamp which was followed by speeches from all the dignitaries on the dais. Later we had the unveiling of magazine followed by refreshments for dignitaries.

Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management has organized Polaris2K17, a national level technical symposium which was organized from 18th to 20th January, 2017. History of Polaris can be traced back to 11 years when it was first started to bring in the technical revolution in Nagpur. Including Polaris 2K17, Polaris has completed 11 successful years now. This year the participation was as high as 1000 students from and outside the college. Polaris is organized by the Compusys Society in association with the CSI Committee. The CSI committee of our department organizes various technical events throughout the year for its members. POLARIS can be considered as a hub of various technical events and workshops thus bringing in the technological awareness in students. We had TCS as our knowledge partner and Coca-Cola, Titan, HR Mentors, Disha Computers, CTel Solutions, SBI Bank and Videocon as our other sponsors.
POLARIS had under it, three technical workshops. One of them was the PhoneGap Workshop, in which industry experts helped participants to get started with programming in this multi-paradigm application language, which can be used for development of Mobile applications. The Angular JS workshop focused on gearing up participants to work on scripts and HTML which is widely used as a platform to create simple real-world applications from scratch. AngularJS will focus on teaching students about making online web applications. Languages like Java and XML were extensively covered during this workshop period. The Photoshop workshop was conducted for creative and photography enthusiasts who learned a great deal about this powerful image-editing platform.
We had a Robot Building Competition called Nemesis, where students were assigned a road map and they needed to build a robot to cover the path. We also had a literary competition, Lord Of Stage, where we judged the participants through various non-stage and stage rounds, making them aware about the competition they will face in literary field. To get the feel of a college event, we had fun events, like Mini Militia, a mobile based game, Hot Heads, a physical event.
Owing to the success of Polaris 2K16’s Project Competition, there was a Project Competition organized this year too, with industry experts coming from TCS to judge the participants project in the competition.
Many industry experts were being called upon to conduct workshops as well as judge the technical events. Also, Polaris has had associations with various industries and newly emerging start-ups. This year, POLARIS happened on a whole new-level to bring upon technical awareness about the current technologies among students and teachers alike.

Mr. Ajit Dharmik, Director 6Simplex, graced the inaugural function as the chief guest. He encouraged the students to find their area of interest in the technical field to become a better professional and also motivated the students to start their own venture stating the prospect ideas for entrepreneurship. The winners for technical poster making competition were Miss. Dipika Ramchandani (1st prize) and Miss. Akansha Kukade secured 2nd prize. Mr. Shubham Yelekar and Mr. Ruchit Bharadwaj bagged 1st and 2nd prize in the Technical article writing competition. Seena Ann Sabu and Shrinidhi Nalade bagged 1st and 2nd prize in the Debate competition. Mr. Bhargav Thakre and Mr. Vishal Singh secured 1st and 2nd position in the Business Quiz. Solo music and dance competition were won by Mr. Anay Jain and Miss. Krutika Pandya respectively. All the prize winners were awarded with cash prizes.

A Two-day National Level Technical Symposium– POLARIS-2k17 was organized by COMPUSYS (Student Society CSE), Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), Nagpur in association with Computer Society of India from 18th January to 20th January 2017.

The aim of the event was to encourage the students towards co-curricular activities and provide a platform to showcase their technical skills. Around 1125 participant from all over the region contributed to the successful event. The event was inaugurated by the hands of honorable chief guest Mr. Arvind Kumar, (DY) centre head, TCS Nagpur.

POLARIS 2K16 National Level Technical Festival

A Two-day Technical and Cultural Fest – POLARIS-2k16 (29th-30th January, 2016) was organized by COMPUSYS (Student Society CSE), Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), Nagpur in association with Computer Society of India. The aim of the event was to encourage the students towards co-curricular activities and provide a platform to showcase their technical skills.

The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr. Amit Kale, Director, Engineering at GlobalLogic India Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur on 29th January, 2016. He illustrated the concept of digital disruption that occurs when new digital technologies and business models affect the value proposition of existing goods and services. Dr. R. S.
