• ACM’s TWO DAY WORKSHOP ON PROBLEM SOLVING

The two day workshop on “Problem Solving” was scheduled on 2nd and 3rd February, 2019 with “Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)” which is an international learned society for computing and focuses on grooming the computing and logical skills of the Computer Science students. Mr. Vinit Kapoor was the chief guest for this session who is a member of ACM and has an experience of 15 years in product development in different domains covering telecommunication, Enterprise platforms and Internet of Things. He gave a speech on the current trends and necessity of problem solving, etc. Dr. M.B.Chandak, Professor and Head of Department of CSE, RCOEM too delivered his thoughts on the same and felicitated the guests of the sessions with a memento.

Workshop was conducted in three sessions wherein the industry experts and faculties focused on the goal to make students understand the need of problem solving skills set and how to utilize it for algorithmic development. The first session was taken by Dr. Ravindra Keskar, Associate Professor at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, followed by the session of an Industry expert Mr.AmitTodkar, a Software Architect at Persistent Systems, on 2nd February. The third session was taken by Prof. Kishor Bhoyar, faculty and Vice chair of ACM Chapter, Nagpur, on 3rd February which involved hands-on implementation of the real life problem statements.
Sessions were dedicated on giving the hands-on experience to develop problem solving skill set. Industry experts from Persistent and faculties from colleges such as VNIT and YCCE took interactive sessions. There were approximately 45 participants from various colleges who attended all these sessions. Students all over from the various colleges such as VNIT, YCCE, PCE and RCOEM came to attend these sessions. Some of faculties of these colleges have also participated in these interactive sessions.

• Departmental Installation

A Formal Installation was organized by the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management Nagpur (RCOEM), on 3rd January, 2019.
This ceremony is organized every year, continuing the tradition of Computer Science and Engineering department. The installation is a whole daylong event to encourage the students towards academic and extra-curricular activities and to provide a platform to showcase their technical skills.

The event was inaugurated on 3rd January, 2019.Mr. Shailesh Awale, Center Head and Director at HCL Technologies, Nagpur, was the chief guest for the occasion. He discussed about the current requirements of the industry and also guided the students to contribute for fulfilment of those requirements. He also emphasized the application of technology in the industry and various upcoming technologies that have great importance. Dr. R. S. Pande, Principal, RCOEM, delivered his motivating speech in which he inspired the students to do better in academic as well as co-curricular activities. Dr. M. B. Chandak, Head, CSE Department, motivated the students to bridge the gap between industry and academics for better employment opportunities. He also elaborated that students should take part in various competitions such as Hackathon to boost them and to find their strengths and weaknesses. Prof. D. Naidu, Professor in-charge, briefed the gathering about the various societies (ACM and CSI) associated with the branch and their working. She also elaborated on how these student bodies work and conduct events for the students.
Also, to grace the occasion we had with us Mr. Akhilesh Halve, DGM (Corporate Communication), Nagpur Metro. He promoted their campaign #Dhavnaar Maazi Metro. We feel extremely obliged to become the very first college of Nagpur participating in the campaign. All the dignitaries, teachers and students of the department wrote their heartfelt wishes for Nagpur Metro.

The events under installation ceremony were technical workshop on Arduino and processing, technical events and fun games. Various events conducted during the ceremony were singing and dancing competition, quiz competition, rounds of Eminence providing a platform to students to showcase their talent.

ACM Installation Ceremony

Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management started a new Student Chapter of the Association of Computer Machinery (ACM) on 5th October 2018.
Dr. U.A. Deshpande, Chair, ACM Professional Chapter Nagpur graced the event as the Chief Guest. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr. S.D. Mohgaonkar, Dean, Second Shift, RCOEM, Dr. M.B. Chandak, Head, Department of CSE and Prof. D. R. Naidu, ACM Student Chapter Head, RCOEM.
The hands-on session on “Understanding Digital and Mobile Forensics” was conducted by experts Mr. Tanmay Dixit and Mr. Paresh Chitnis. The participants learnt about various techniques used in digital forensics followed by practical orientation. A total of 46 students participated in the workshop. The event was conducted successfully and received a positive response from the students.

Industry Lecture on Design Patterns • A Two-day Guest Lecture on Design Patterns was organized by Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), Nagpur in association with Barclays from 15th to 16th September 2018. • The guest speakers for the lecture were Mr. Deepak Sharma, Vice President, Barclays, Pune and Mr. Mandar Kulkarni, Vice President, Barclays, Pune. The event started with welcome of the guests by presenting them a memento, book and bouquet by the hands of Dr. R. S. Pande, Principal, RCOEM in the presence of Dr. M. B. Chandak, Head, Department of CSE, and Dr. A. J. Agrawal, M. Tech coordinator, Department of CSE. • The aim of the event was enhancement of the students’ educational experience by exposing the students to real-world life experiences of the industry professionals. • Around 160 students from III year and IV year attended the lecture. The lecture was also graced by the presence of faculties from Departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology and Master of Computer Applications.

POLARIS 2K17

A Two-day National Level Technical Symposium– POLARIS-2k17 was organized by COMPUSYS (Student Society CSE), Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), Nagpur in association with Computer Society of India from 18th January to 20th January 2017.
The aim of the event was to encourage the students towards co-curricular activities and provide a platform to showcase their technical skills. Around 1125 participant from all over the region contributed to the successful event. The event was inaugurated by the hands of honorable chief guest Mr. Arvind Kumar, (DY) centre head, TCS Nagpur.

4-day Training Programme on Recent Trends and Technologies in Big Data Analytics [Data Science Research]

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, RCOEM Nagpur organized DST (Big Data Initiatives Division) sponsored 4-day Training Programme on “Recent Trends and Technologies in Big Data Analytics [Data Science Research]” during 19-22 December 2016. The programme was conducted under the Grants for Conducting Workshops on Data Science Research from Big Data Initiatives Division, Department of Science and Technology, GOI.
Dr. M. B. Chandak, Coordinator, received a grant of INR 6.0 Lacs from DST as financial assistance to conduct the programme. Dr. A. J. Agrawal and Prof. D. A. Borikar were Co-Cordinators for the programme. M/s InsAnalytics, Kolkata was the Knowlege Partner for the programme with 67 faculty and PG student enrollments. The training programme was conducted without any registration fees from the participants.
The inaugural function was presided over by Hon’ble Principal, Dr. R. S. Pande. Mr. Goutam Das, CEO, insAnalytics Kolkata was the Chief Guest of the function. The programme provided hands-on exposure to Machine Learning Algorithms and Tools, Big Data Analytics and avenues in Data Science Research, IOT, and Hadoop File System. The participants were felicitated in valedictory function with certificates at the hands of CEO, insAnalytics, Mr. Goutam Das and Coordinator, Dr. M. B. National Conference on Research in Cloud & Cyber Security

The Dept of CSE of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management in association with CSI Nagpur Chapter organized one day National Conference on Research in Cloud & Cyber Security, 21st Feb 2015, The Highlight of the conference was Workshop on Digital Forensics and Cyber Security, topics of the workshop were Live Mobile Forensics and Live RAM Clone, Investigation and Security- including IP Tracking Methods and Pure hands-on Training in Ethical Hacking. The domain experts Mr. Tanmay Dixit and Mr. Paresh Chitnis, Director, CPAG, Nasik, demonstrated various cyber crime activities that typically include how cyber crime actually happens, how calls can be spoofed and the ways to bypass authentication in operating systems. Also some of the ways to handle digital forensics issues.
