Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Branch
The seed for the Computer Society of India (CSI) was first sown in the year 1965 with a handful of IT enthusiasts who were a computer user group and felt the need to organize their activities. They also wanted to share their knowledge and exchange ideas on what they felt was a fast emerging sector. The purposes of the Society are scientific and educational directed towards the advancement of the theory and practice of computer science and IT. The organization has grown to an enviable size of 100,000 strong members consisting of professionals with varied backgrounds including Software developers, Scientists, Academicians, Project Managers, CIO’s , CTO’s & IT vendors to just name a few. Currently CSI has more than 500 student branches and rooted firmly at 73 different locations.

Student Society Installation Report 2018
A Formal Installation was organized by the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management Nagpur (RCOEM), on 3rd January, 2019.
This ceremony is organized every year, continuing the tradition of Computer Science and Engineering department. The installation is a whole daylong event to encourage the students towards academic and extra-curricular activities and to provide a platform to showcase their technical skills.

Chandak (Head, CSE Department), Mr.Akhilesh Halve( DGM -Corporate Communication , Nagpur Metro) ,Mr.ShaileshAwale (Center Head and Director at HCL Technologies), Prof. D. Naidu (Professor in-charge).
The event was inaugurated on 3rd January, 2019.Mr. Shailesh Awale, Center Head and Director at HCL Technologies, Nagpur, was the chief guest for the occasion. He discussed about the current requirements of the industry and also guided the students to contribute for fulfilment of those requirements. He also emphasized the application of technology in the industry and various upcoming technologies that have great importance. Dr. R. S. Pande, Principal, RCOEM, delivered his motivating speech in which he inspired the students to do better in academic as well as co-curricular activities. Dr. M. B. Chandak, Head, CSE Department, motivated the students to bridge the gap between industry and academics for better employment opportunities. He also elaborated that students should take part in various competitions such as Hackathon to boost them and to find their strengths and weaknesses. Prof. D. Naidu, Professor in-charge, briefed the gathering about the various societies (ACM and CSI) associated with the branch and their working. She also elaborated on how these student bodies work and conduct events for the students. Also, to grace the occasion we had with us Mr. Akhilesh Halve, DGM (Corporate Communication), Nagpur Metro. He promoted their campaign #Dhavnaar Maazi Metro. We feel extremely obliged to become the very first college of Nagpur participating in the campaign. All the dignitaries, teachers and students of the department wrote their heartfelt wishes for Nagpur Metro.

The events under installation ceremony were technical workshop on Arduino and processing, technical events and fun games. Various events conducted during the ceremony were singing and dancing competition, quiz competition, rounds of Eminence providing a platform to students to showcase their talent.
ACM Installation Ceremony
Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management started a new Student Chapter of the Association of Computer Machinery (ACM) on 5th October 2018. Dr. U.A. Deshpande, Chair, ACM Professional Chapter Nagpur graced the event as the Chief Guest. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr. S.D. Mohgaonkar, Dean, Second Shift, RCOEM, Dr. M.B. Chandak, Head, Department of CSE and Prof. D. R. Naidu, ACM Student Chapter Head, RCOEM.
The hands-on session on “Understanding Digital and Mobile Forensics” was conducted by experts Mr. Tanmay Dixit and Mr. Paresh Chitnis. The participants learnt about various techniques used in digital forensics followed by practical orientation. A total of 46 students participated in the workshop. The event was conducted successfully and received a positive response from the students.

Student Society Installation 2017
The formal installation ceremony was organised by Compusys (Student Society CSE), Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management(RCOEM), Nagpur in association with Computer Society of India on 11th October 2017.
The event started with lighting of the lamp by Head of the Department Dr. M.B. Chandak and Prof. D. Naidu. The event witnessed the installation of CSI and Entrepreneurship Development Cell bodies formed by the students of Computer Science & Engineering.
The aim of the event was to encourage the students to get inside the technical world and so events like coding competitions, workshops of Robotics and Photoshop were conducted. A quiz competition was also organised by the ED cell. Students were given a chance to showcase their talents and so Dance, music and Debate competitions were also organised. To enhance the personality of students a personality contest ‘Celebutante’ was organised. The event concluded with the felicitation of the winners of the various competitions and the students who excelled in the field of sports.

CSI FOUNDATION DAY
Student Branch CSI of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur organized a COMPUTER SOCIETY OF INDIA FOUNDATION DAY on March 12, 2016. Guest for the inaugural function was Dr. U. A. Deshpande, Associate Professor & Associate Dean (IT), VNIT, Nagpur. Dr. U. A. Deshpande delivered an expert lecture on “Local Search and Optimization” and shared his experience about Genetic Alogorithms with reference to Artificial Intelligence. A Computer Technology based Puzzle solving competition and Quiz competition were held for all CSI member students. Mr. Tejas Wate & Mr. Nikhil Barapatre won the first prize and Mr. Gaurav Khichi & Mr.Rushab Jain secured the second position in Quiz Competition. Mr. Nayan Jaiswal and Mr. Nikhil Barapatre won the first and second position in Puzzle Solving competition, respectively.

ABOUT Google Developer Student Club (GDSC)
- Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) are community groups for college and university. It is a club for students who are interested in Google developer technologies. GDSC encourages peer-to-peer learning environment and build solutions for local businesses and their community. It wasestablished in RCOEM in 2019. GeeksforGeeks Student Chapter RCOEM is a university-based community chapter working to create a coding culture for students interested in Computer Science and other core technical competencies .The Chapter provides a platform to cultivate coding temperament amongst students, with a wide array of fun events, interesting workshops, and contests. Event-Summary_codechef-converted- Codechef RCOEM Chapter is a programming club with an aim to make competitive programming accessible to all and provide opportunities and exposure to students on the campus.
- The initiative of establishing the chapter was taken by 4 students of the CSE Department in November 2020 under the guidance of the Faculty advisor Prof. Vasundhara Rathod.
- The mission of CodeChef Chapters is to build a robust Competitive Programming culture in educational institutions. RCOEM Chapter helps students become better problem solvers by fostering learning and professional development. We believe every student should be given the proper mentorship and resources to become a better programmer and compete on a global scale.
