Sthapatya Veda

Programme Details

     Sthapatya Veda is a 11 month foundation course part time programme offered by Civil Engineering Department. The programme started in year 2023 with the intake of 120 students. The curriculum of the programme is to set an equilibrium of Cosmic Powers based on Nature’s Law within a dwelling structure. The curriculum broadly cover planning and construction of Apartment to Airport while Tower to Township as well as recreational places as per Sutra Mandala Siddhanta by Sthapatya Veda.

Sthapatya Veda is the language of Architecture. It is the most ancient and complete system of architecture and city planning in accord with Natural Law, which takes into account the mathematics, yoga sutra, Quantum Physics and planetary and Earth Science.

The difference between Sthapatya Veda and Vastu Shastra is One is Engineering, the other is Science. Engineering is the applied aspect, Science is the theoretical aspect. The term Sthapatya Veda refers to the is the applied aspect of this precious knowledge, while the term Vastu refers to the theoretical aspect. Veda means knowledge, and Sthapan means to establish. Therefore as we already mentioned, Sthapatya Veda is the Science of Architecture. Sthapatya Veda is the knowledge of application and skills.

                                          कालः सृजति भूतानि कालः सम्हरति प्रजाः ।

                                          सर्वे कालस्य वशगाः कालो तस्य वशे स्थितः ।।

The above lines mean that Time creates material objects of nature. All objects created are destroyed by time. Everything rests in the hands of time. But that time rests with the ultimate – Energy or God.

     Time creates everything and time destroy everything so Sthapatya Veda a medium to connect human being with time. Mahamuni Mayan invented this theory and explain in Sthapatya Veda. By designing proper sutra of space and material can connect with time this interpreted in Sthapatya Veda.

                         Sthapatya Veda , An upaveda of ATHARVA VEDA……

                                  ऋग्यजुः सामाधर्वाख्यान् वेदान् पूर्वादिभिर्मुरवैः। शास्त्रमिज्यां स्तुतिस्तोमं प्रायश्चित्तं व्यधात्क्रमात्।।
                                               आयुर्वेदं धनुर्वेदं गान्धर्व वेदमात्मनः। स्थापत्यं चासृजद् वेदं क्रमात्पूर्वादिभिर्मुखैः ।।
                                                 इतिहास पुराणानि पञ्चमं वेदमीश्वरः। सर्वेभ्य एव वक्त्रेभ्यः ससृजे सर्वदर्शन्र्र्रः ।।

Veda Vyasa’s Bhāgavata, makes mention of Sthapatya Vedam as one of the Vedas that emerged from the land of Bharat in the remote past. It also makes mention of another Veda – Pranava Veda – that existed earlier to other Vedas such as Rig, Yajus, Sama, Atharva and also Ayurveda, Dhanurveda, Gandharva Veda and Sthapatya Veda.

Ayurveda is a science of medicine and its legendaries are Charaka, Sushruta etc.

Dhanurveda is a science of military warfare and its masters are Arjun, Ashwathama etc.

Gandharva Veda is a science of Art and Drama and its legendaries are Kavi Kalidas, Devarshi Narada.

Sthapatya Veda is a science of architecture that combines with Mathematics, Yoga Sutra, Quantum Physics and Planetary and Earth Science.

Sthapatya Veda was established as a language of architecture by Mayan.

     Mahamuni Mayan was the progenitor of Sthapatya Veda teachings. “He is considered as the Divine architect, scientist, technical wizard, poet and traditional builder, by name Mahamuni Mayan”

     In ancient scriptures, Mayan or Mayasura was a great ancient king of the asuras, daityas and rakshasa races. Mayan was known for his brilliant in architecture. In Mahabharata, Mayasabha – the Hall of Illusions – was named after him. Mayan is credited with the authorship of the Mayamatama Sthapatya Veda, the Surya Siddhanta.

Sthapati, one who owns skills and knowledge of Sthapatya Veda…….

      Sthapati is not only but also… an expert of the design of structure though he must have crossed ‘the ocean of the science of architecture’. He needs to be balanced in body and mind and be nicely-versed in the all the traditional sciences in its numerous branches. He should have an urge and compassion about innovations. He should have expertise in the history of the land and a good draftsman who has sharp be widely travelled.

     The Sthapati should be sensitive, soft-hearted, free from envy and not envied by others. He should be good-looking and free from physical deformity, straightforward, able to control senses, clarity of mind, free from greed, free from diseases, unblemished character and free seven types of vices. He must be alert about performance and be strong-willed.

     Vedic texts on the traditional Indian system of Architecture. These texts describe principles of design, layout, measurement, ground preparation, space management and spatial Geometry….

     Disproportion plan forms in contemporary architecture agitate and spoil an alignment of energies and forces, therefore disallowed in the design of living spaces while Sthapatya Veda being a science of Architecture has completely based on Nature’s law and complete solution to control balance in life…. 

Interpretation of Sthapatya Veda by non-scientific scholars versed in Sanskrit and astrology unable to offer scientific solutions in Architecture. Due to that it lost its scientific importance and allows complex theories of mysticism under the label of Vastu shastra….

     Need to learn and interpret the principles of Sthapatya Veda in a scientific manner with today’s Architectural pattern. That’s why need to set up a universal research institution to reinstate Sthapatya Veda as a worldwide system for planning and construction. That will encourage replacing contemporary architecture with Sthapatya Veda as a global language of architecture….

     MAYAN would be first and most unique Research Institution has been based on Sthapatya Veda. Sthapatya Veda is an ancient system of knowledge that involves the connection between people and the buildings in which they live and work….

     He has started his research and analysis on Sthapatya Veda in 2003 under the guidance of Dr. Brahma Deo Upadhyay (then Vice Chancellor of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi University, Holland).

     In 20 years of his architectural experience he has studied many architectural structures and decoded thousands of sutras in Sthapatya Veda. He also worked on correcting and implementing them successfully.

     Interpretation of Sthapatya Veda by non-scientific scholars versed in Sanskrit and astrology was unable to offer scientific solutions in Architecture. As a result, he is taking the initiative to offer informal education about the Sthapatya Veda in the simplest form to architects and engineers. Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management is introducing the Sthapatya Veda course for the first time in India.

Ar. Nikita Niwal Sakhare

After completing her B.Arch. in 2017, Nikita joined Ar. Abhishek Deshpande in 2018 as a Sutragrahi with a background in architectural concept designing and planning.

She acquired to possess the general knowledge of Sthapatya Veda.

She learn Sutra Mandal Siddhanta skills from Ar. Abhishek and apply skills in several projects together.

She also presents the content which reflects the principles of Sthapatya Veda.
